Purchasing or leasing a new or used vehicle is one of the major investments an individual makes. As a consumer, you always want your vehicle to be reliable, safe, and hold its value over years to come. Unfortunately, from time to time, consumers end up owning a vehicle that does not meet their expectations or the industry standards. One of the most common causes for that is intentional dealer fraud. |

|
|
Typically, dealer fraud is associated with smaller franchised dealerships or private sellers. Some of the most common scenarios involve purchasing a vehicle with undisclosed frame damage or rolled back mileage, receiving a shipment with a vehicle you never bid on, or discovering that you were tricked into "alternative" financing terms or warranty fraud. |

COMMON EXAMPLES OF FRAUD |
|
|
Frame Damage
Often dealerships sell cars with frame or body damage. If that is the case, the selling party is obligated by law to give the buyer a written disclosure notice. If your vehicle has frame damage, it is probably valued at 30-70% of the price you have paid for it. In addition, this kind of damage can cause serious safety concerns. If you discovered that your car has these types of damages and they were not disclosed to you by the dealer, we can advise you on this case and estimate your financial losses and recover up 9 times the amount in punitive damages.
Vehicle Purchase or Lease Finance Tricks
Often dealers will re-lease a newly purchased or leased vehicle to the consumer under conditional approval on the financing. In most of these cases the dealership ends up bumping the price on the vehicle blaming the financing bank or the customer’s "poor credit".
If your purchasing, financing or leasing process is taking more than several hours, it is very possible that you will end up better off consulting with an attorney who knows "all the tricks" used by dealerships. As in most cases, in intentional fraud or attempted fraud situations we often get the attorney fees paid by the dealer.
Previously Limo, Taxi or Rental Vehicles
Vehicles used as taxi cabs, limousines or rental cars often have very high mileage and are valued at 20-60% compared to vehicles not used for commercial purposes. Failure of the dealer to disclose this information may result in financial losses on your part, as your resale value will drop significantly.
